The Risk Factors of Thrombosis:
· Prolonged immobility
· Surgery such as orthopedic or pelvic surgery
· Trauma or injury
· Hormonal factors such as the use of hormone replacement therapy and/or birth control pills
· Medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease and inflammatory diseases
· Genetic predisposition: Family history of thrombosis or inherited clotting disorders (Factor V Leiden orprothrombin gene mutation)
· Obesity
· Smoking
· Chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension
· Dehydration
· Pregnancy and the postpartum period
· Certain medications, particularly those affecting blood clotting
