September 8 is a day for global physiotherapists - World physiotherapy day. On September 8, 1996, the world physiotherapy Alliance (wcpt), established in 1951, decided to set September 8 as the "world physiotherapy day" every year. Its purpose is to make practitioners around the world - physiotherapists - recognize the important role of physiotherapists in promoting and maintaining human health:
① Make physiotherapists around the world aware of their important responsibilities in promoting and maintaining the overall health of mankind.
② Demonstrate the important role of physiotherapy in the health and well-being of the global population.
③ Improve the popularity of physical therapy.
④ Represent the physiotherapy profession and its patients to government and policy makers.
What is a physiotherapist?
"We" are physiotherapists, clinical workers who use exercise, manipulation and instruments to provide physical treatment to treat and prevent pain, disease, dysfunction and many other problems. Different from doctors who mainly engage in clinical medicine, physiotherapists take rehabilitation medicine as the main body, make rehabilitation evaluation on patients through professional evaluation methods, and formulate and implement rehabilitation plans. Of course, physiotherapists in China also have many characteristics of traditional medicine, such as acupuncture, moxibustion, bone setting, massage and so on. It is said that the western concept of physical therapy originated in AD 460, while the concept of physical therapy in China originated for a long time.
Current situation of physical therapy
Physical therapy is the basic composition of rehabilitation therapy and an important content of rehabilitation medicine. It is through functional training, manual treatment and the help of sound, light, cold, heat, electricityForce (motion and pressure), magnetism and other physical factors to improve human health, prevent and treat diseases, and restore, improve or reconstruct physical functions.
Physiotherapy can be simply divided into three categories:
Exercise therapy with functional training as the main means: advocate active exercise, adhere to the concept of "exercise is the best medicine", and use designed exercise to treat diseases
Manual therapy: therapists use both hands to treat diseases through specific technologies (neuromuscular promotion technology, motor relearning technology, joint loosening technology, etc.), and Chinese traditional massage also belongs to manual therapy;
Physical therapy with physical factors such as electricity, light, sound, magnetism, cold, heat and water as the main means.
When it comes to physical therapy in China, everyone's habitual thinking is acupuncture, massage and even blind massage. However, physical therapists defined by modern medicine have relevant professional knowledge of human movement, so as to promote patients' recovery of health, activity ability and self-care ability.
What diseases can physiotherapy treat?
It can be said that everyone needs physical therapy. Physical therapy is a kind of no injection, no medicine and no operation, but it can also bring therapeutic effect and rehabilitation to patients. Physical therapy can be selectively carried out for each disease. Such as common cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, sports injury, fracture rehabilitation, hemiplegia rehabilitation, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary exercise rehabilitation, mainly the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal system diseases, nervous system diseases and common internal and external system diseases. With the accelerated development of rehabilitation surgery and people's desire for health, more and more diseases are intervened and intervened by physical therapy.
